Islamabad, Aug 27: Chairman Pakistan China Institute, Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed, will lead a delegation of entrepreneurs and publishers to participate in the 2nd China-Eurasia Expo 2012 starting from September 1st in Urumqi, capital of Xinjiang, the Uyghur Autonomous Region of China.
China-Eurasia Expo is a major strategic measure of China’s central government aimed at boosting long-term economic exchanges and cooperation between Xinjiang and Eastern China as well as Central Asia, Western Asia, Southern Asia and European countries.
Senator Mushahid Hussain will lead the Pakistan delegation comprising of leading journalists; Dr.Dushka, Editor Youlin magazine, entrepreneurs and publishers; Mr. Ahmed Saeed, managing director of Saeed Book Bank. Earlier, Pakistan-China Institute in collaboration with Xinjiang Government launched a Chinese Book Section in Saeed Book Bank in Islamabad this year to boost information exchange between the two time tested friends, Pakistan and China.
Pakistan China Institute is a leading think-tank on Pakistan China relations and has launched various programs and projects to boost Pakistan China strategic cooperative partnership in the 21st century that includes Youlin (Good Neighbours); Cultural Magazine, Nihao-Salam; public diplomacy news and information service, Journey of Friendship; travelogue documentary on Pakistan China, Chinese book section, seminars, and international conferences.
The Pakistan China Institute delegation participating in the China-Eurasia Expo will seek bilateral cooperation opportunities in information and publishing sector aimed to enhance cultural ties between Pakistan and Xinjiang.
China-Eurasia Expo is an up gradation of Urumqi Fair in which Pakistan China Institute participated in 2010 with 16 delegates hailing from business, education and media community of Pakistan.
Xinjiang, linked with Pakistan through an ancient Silk Road city of Kashghar Kara Kuram Highway (KKH), will become a Asian economic gateway in near future as Beijing plans to invest millions to transform Xinjiang, the Far Western part of China, into a thriving hub of trade and commerce and China-Eurasia Expo is one of many effective strategies.
Pakistan-China Institute has signed an MOU with the Xinjiang Group that includes cooperation in joint publication of a monthly magazine as well as publication and distribution of Chinese books in Pakistan and establishment of a special section for Chinese books in leading book stores in Islamabad.
Xinjiang is an autonomous region (Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region) of the People's Republic of China. It is the largest Chinese administrative division and spans over 1.6 million km2.
