Pakistan Delegation Led by Senator Mushahid  Meets Vice President of Indonesia, Muhammad Jusuf Kalla, in Jakarta

Islamabad, July 20: An eight-member Pakistani delegation led by Chairman Senate Standing Committee on Defence, Senator Mushahid Hussain held meeting with the Vice President of Indonesia, Muhammad Jusuf Kalla in Jakarta on Wednesday.

During the meeting matters of mutual interest came under discussion, where both sides pledged to boost parliamentary exchanges and enhance defence ties between the two countries.

Delegation also called on Indonesian Minister for Defense, Minister for Coordination and Deputy Speaker.

An eight-member Pakistani delegation led by Chairman Senate Standing Committee on Defence, Senator Mushahid Hussain is on a four day study tour of Indonesia.

The visit, arranged by Pakistan Institute of Legislative Development and Transparency, is aimed at seeking deeper understanding of democratic consolidation in Indonesia.

The delegation includes senior Parliamentarians, representatives of major political parties and members of PILDAT Dialogue Group on Civil Military Relations.

Indonesia is the world's most populous Muslim- majority country, whereas Pakistan is the world's second most populous Muslim-majority country. Both states are members of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and Developing 8 Countries.

In 2016, Pakistan-Indonesia trade volume reached $2.3b.

Pakistan has signed a memorandum of understanding on defense cooperation (DCA), where Pakistan offered Indonesia to take part in joint-manufacturing of JF-17 fighter jet, a multi-role combat aircraft developed jointly by the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex and the Chengdu Aircraft Corporation of China.
