Uprising a de facto plebiscite for freedom, Senator Mushahid speaks at Harvard debate

Islamabad, February 14 (KMS): In The popular and spontaneous uprising in Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK), since the killing of Burhan Wani, is a ‘de facto plebiscite’ by the Kashmiris for their demand of freedom, said Senator Mushahid Hussain.

According to a communiqué, PML-Q senator was speaking at the Harvard University’s debate on the Kashmir dispute. The event which was a first of its kind in the world’s leading university, had also invited Indian and APHC representative to take part in the debate.

Pakistan was represented by Senator Mushahid Hussain, while Hurriyet leader Mir Waiz Umar Farooq spoke through a video link from Srinagar, and India was represented by Air Marshal (retd) Kapil Kak and the former puppet Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
Mushahid told the audience, ‘Kashmir issue is not about territory, but Kashmir issue for Pakistan is about Kashmiris.

During his address, he also shared with the audience his five points to help break the impasse in the current situation. He said, India should accept Kashmir as a political dispute, and accept there are three parties to the dispute Kashmiris, Pakistan and India.

Hi second point was that India’s former foreign minister Yashwant Sinha’s report, which clearly states that ‘Kashmiris have lost fear of India’ and ‘Kashmiris want to join CPEC’ should be accepted by India.

He also advised that India and Pakistan should immediately start back channel talks by appointing representatives for such talks.

The senator’s last point was that India must withdraw its opposition to the SAARC Summit in Pakistan and agree on a new date for the summit.
