Islamabad, March 19: Chairman Pakistan China Institute and Parliamentary Committee on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed has said CPEC will stabilize national economy as the project envisages power generation, infrastructure development, modernization of industry and integration of regional economies.
Mushahid Hussain made these remarks while speaking at the book launching ceremony of "China's Stories, China's Success", written by renowned analyst S.M. Hali held in Islamabad on Friday.
CPEC as major new developments would have a positive impact on the region and help promote regional cooperation, he added.
He also said Xinjiang, emerging as a trade and commerce hub of One Belt One Road, is the entry point of the CPEC from Chinese side and Balochistan is the entry point of the CPEC from the Port of Gwadar, which are a gateway to oil rich Middle East and Central Asia.
Elaborating the political significance of the project, Mushahid said CPEC is a strategic national project, which is above any person, party or province or even the government. He further added by saying the project will unite the federation of Pakistan through progress and prosperity in various fields.
Elaborating the trade link of CPEC with China’s One Belt One Road Initiative, Mushahid said CPEC will connect around fifty-five countries with Gwadar and ensure economic revolution in the region.
Chinese Ambassador Sun Weidong in his remarks underlined the need to make persistent efforts based on determination and diligence to achieve a sustainable development of CPEC.
He further said the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor is a major and pilot project of the Belt and oad Initiative proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping, which aims to build a multi-polar world, economic globalisation, cultural diversity and regional integration.
No country can progress by closing its doors. Every country has to open doors for other countries and learn from others' experiences, he noted.
China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is key component of the One Belt and One Road Initiative, and the project contains highways, railways, gas and oil pipelines and fiber channels starting from Kashgar in China to Gwadar port in Pakistan.
Experts say CPEC will strengthen the time-tested China-Pakistan friendship, and lay a solid foundation for building a China-Pakistan community of shared destiny.
