Mushahid for evolving foolproof cooperation mechanism between public, INGO's

ISLAMABAD, May 16, 2012: Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid Secretary General Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed on Wednesday called for evolving foolproof cooperation mechanism between the public sector and international non governmental organizations (INGOs) to avoid confusion and better serve the calamity-hit people. He expressed these views while talking to a high-level delegation of international NGO, Pakistan Humanitarian Forum. The delegation, which called on Mushahid Hussain, was led by Aine Fay, the chairperson of the forum. Sindh Minister for Relief, Haleem Adil Sheikh, assisted Mushahid Hussain Sayed during the meeting.

The PML leaders lauded the humanitarian work being conducted by the local and international NGOs in the social sector and expressed hope that they would keep up their good work for the calamity-hit people. The visiting delegates shared the issues they were facing while working for the social sector in Pakistan. The PML leaders assured them their full cooperation to resolve the issues they were faced with. Sindh Minister for Relief Haleem Adil Shaikh informed the delegates about the natural calamities affecting the poor in Sindh and said that besides the government, there was a room for the humanitarian workers to help the affectees. He said the flood-affected people of Sindh had suffered a lot due to lack of cooperation between the government and private aid workers. He said that rural Sindh was again facing possible flood situation this year.

He called for improving cooperation between local government officials and international donors to evolve better cooperation mechanism to avoid confusion.
