ISLAMABAD: Senate Defence Committee on Saturday visited the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) to inquire after the health of those injured in the terrorist attack in RA Bazar in Rawalpindi and Bannu.
On arrival in the CMH, the Senate Defence Committee got official protocol and Commandant CMH Major General Salahuddin Qasim, Deputy Commandant Brig Bangash and Brig Nigar received the committee delegation.
The delegation of the Senate’s Defense Committee comprising of its Chairman Mushahid Husain Sayed, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, Senator Farhatullah Babar, Senator Sehar Kamran, Senator Col (R) Tahir Hussain Mashadi and Secretary Committee Sharifullah Wazir.
The Senate Committee visited three different wards—Intensive Care Unit (ICU), High Dependency Unit (HDU) and General Surgical Wards—and inquired after the health of each and every injured and presented bouquets to all.
One of the Injured of the RA Bazar blast Havildar Jaffar inquired from Chairman Senate’s Defence Committee Mushahid Hussain Sayed as to when the Rescue 1122 was launched.
Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed pointed towards Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and said that Rescue 1122 was established in the tenure of younger brother of Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi as Chief Minister Punjab.
On this Havaldar Jaffar said his life was saved by Rescue 1122 for which he was thankful to Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi.
He told the committee that after the blast he was injured and no one was coming near him but the rescue 1122 immediately rushed him to the hospital and he was thankful to Almighty Allah that his life was saved.
Commandant CMH Major General Salahuddin Qasim appreciated the Senate Defence Committee for the visit and said that the morale of the Pakistan armed forces is high with this gesture.
Chairman Senate Defence Committee Mushahid Hussain Sayed said the committee came here to show the solidarity with the defence forces and citizens.
The Committee appreciated the Commandant CMH and his staff of the CMH to provide the best medical treatment to the injured in the terrorist attack.
PML-Q President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain remarked that the high morale of the injured persons gave strength to the nation.
During the briefing to the Senate’s Defence Committee major General Salahuddin Qasim told the committee that 249 doctors were providing their services on the duty round the clock in the CMH and 100 major operations were being conducted in 16 operations theaters there.
In RA Bazar terrorist attack, nine people were martyred and 28 injured and the process of all of them to shift in the hospital was completed within one hour.
One of the injured of RA Bazar blast, a young student Aqeel with high morale told the committee members, “Sir, I am a student of 9th class and my younger brother who was student of fourth class was martyred in the terrorist attack. We are alive nation. We will face them.”
A soldier Ibrahim who was shifted from Bannu to CMH, who lost his two legs in the blast and will spend his whole life as a handicapped was preparing himself to enter into new life with a high morale. “I am ready to scarifice everything for the defence of the country,” soldier Ibrahim said.
The surgical ward of the CMH is full of the injured of the blast, the entry of the common man is not allowed.
After the medical treatment in the General Surgical ward, the injured personnel were being shifted to Rehabilitation Centers of Pakistan Army.
There are many injured in ICU on ventilators and one of them is was injured after being hit by a ball bearing of the bomb on his head and no part of his body was functional but on his bed a prayer of prophet Hazrat Ayub was written.
The main aim and purpose of the visit of the Senate’s Defence committee comprising of different political parties was not only to show solidarity with the injured but also to give a message from politicians to Pakistan’s Armed forces that all the nation should remain united and on one page in the war against terrorism.
